Sharing best practices in the implementation of UN comprehensive framework on the drug world problem

A High-Level special event on Sharing best practices in the implementation of the UN comprehensive framework on the world drug problem on Wednesday 26 June 2013 from 11a.m. until 1p.m., in Conference Room 1, Conference Building at UN Headquarters. The event will feature the UN Secretary-General, the UN Under-Secretary-General for the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the President of the General Assembly (tbc). It will also feature other high-level experts/speakers, please see below flyer.

The purpose of the event is to highlight the potential of the existing legal regime which combines drug-demand and drug-supply reduction measures. It encompasses policies focused on alternative development, rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals affected by drug use in full respect for human rights, fundamental freedoms and the innate dignity of all.

The event is also a lead-up to the special session on the world drug problem being convened in 2016 to review the progress in the implementation of the Political Declaration and Plan of Action on Integrated and Balanced Strategy to Counter the World Drug Problem.

The event will be held at the Conference Room 1, Conference Building, UN Headquarters in New York.
