Post-doctoral research fellowship in drug policy

The School of Public Policy (SPP) at Central European University (CEU), Budapest, is seeking applicants for a new post-doctoral researcher in drug policy, in collaboration with the Open Society Foundation’s Global Drug Policy Program (GDPP). This new role will help shape the SPP’s drug research and policy engagement. Experience of doctoral research on drug policy and related issues is particularly sought, including:

  • aspects of governance (burden on law enforcement and justice systems; cost-effectiveness or ineffectiveness of drug policy; multi-stakeholder decision-making and policy-making at national, regional and international levels; importance of public opinion and public attitudes for drug policy development);
  • human security and sustainable development (involvement of low-income communities in drug production, transit, sale, etc.; sustainable socio-economic options for marginalized communities involved in illicit crop cultivation; impact of drug policing on communities and development of new approaches; violence and organized crime in the South);
  • international relations (international law and treaties in drug control; impact of multilateral agreements on state approaches to drug policy making).
